ತೊರೆದು ಜೀವಿಸಬಹುದೇ ಹರಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಚರಣಗಳ
ಬರಿದೇ ಮಾತೇಕಿನ್ನು ಅರಿತು ಪೇಳುವೆನಯ್ಯ !!….
ತಾಯಿ ತಂದೆಯ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಪವ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಹುದು
ದಾಯಾದಿ ಬಂದುಗಳ ಬಿಡಲು ಬಹುದು
ರಾಯ ತಾ ಮುನಿದರೆ ರಾಜ್ಯವನೇ ಬಿಡಬಹುದು
ಕಾಯ ಜಾಪಿತ ನಿನ್ನಡಿಯ ಬಿಡಲಾಗದು !! ೧ ||
ಒಡಲು ಹಸಿಯಲು ಅನ್ನವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಇರಬಹುದು
ಪಡೆದ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊರಡಬಹುದು!
ಮಡದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತೊಲಗಿಸಿಯೇ ಬಿಡಬಹುದು
ಕಡಲೊಡೆಯ ನಿನ್ನಡಿಯ ಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಿಡಲಾಗದು || ೨ ||
ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಪರರು ಬೇಡಿದರೆತ್ತಿ ಕೊಡಬಹುದು
ಮಾನಾಭಿಮಾನವ ತಗ್ಗಿಸಲೂ ಬಹುದು
ಪ್ರಾಣಧಾಯಕನಾದ ಆದಿಕೇಶವರಾಯ

Toredu jeevisabahude Hari ninna charanagala
Baride maatekinna aritu peluvenayya! || P ||
Taayi tandeya bittu tapava maadalu bahudu
Daayaadi bandugala bidalu bahudu
Raaya taa munidare raajyavane bidabahudu
Kaaya jaapita ninnadiya bidalaagadu! || 1 ||
Odalu hasiyalu annavillade irabahudu
Padeda kshetragala bittu horadabahudu
Madadi makkalada kaDege tolagisiyey bidabahudu
Kadalodaya ninnadiya galige bidalaagadu! || 2 ||
Pranavannu pararu bedidaretti kodabahudu
Maanabhimaanava taggisaloo bahudu
Pranadhaayakanada Adikeshavaraya

Translation:
Is it possible to live abandoning your feet, O Hari?
I speak not empty words but speak with realization!
One may forsake mother and father to perform penance,
One may leave behind family and relatives.
If a king becomes angry, one may even renounce a kingdom.
But the soul bound to your feet can never be forsaken!
Even if one goes hungry without food,
Or abandons all acquired lands and possessions,
Even if one turns away from wife and children,
The devotion to your feet, O Lord of the ocean, cannot be relinquished!
If others demand, one may surrender even their very life,
One may forgo pride and ego.
But you, O life-giver, Lord Adikeshava,
The wise know, O Krishna, that your feet can never be forsaken!
